COVID Vaccine Fest to be held once a week, says Minister

Chikkaballapur: With Schools and Colleges at all levels likely to reopen next month, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar said that a COVID Vaccine Festival (Utsava) will be held once a week in the State.

Speaking to press persons at Sidlaghatta  Taluk in Chikkaballapur district on Sunday, Dr. Sudhakar said that Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will launch the Vaccine Fest soon. 

Maintaining that 4 crore doses of vaccine has been utilised  in the State so far, he said that the State Government has appealed the Union Health Minister to provide more than 5 lakh doses per day to Karnataka. 

Pointing out that it has been planned to vaccinate 5 lakh people every day, he said that on the Festival day, it has been planned to jab 15 lakh to 20 lakh eligible population. 

Stating that Bengaluru will be given first preference in vaccination of people as the city has over one crore population, the Health Minister said that measures have been taken to expedite vaccination of slum residents.
