Cow badly injured after biting explosive, euthanised

Mysore/Mysuru: Evan as the incident of an elephant biting fruits stuffed with explosives and later dying in water in a standing position in Kerala is still fresh in the minds of people, a six-year-old cow’s mouth was blown away after biting explosives which was hidden in food on Monday afternoon in H.D. Kote taluk.

The cow was euthanised (put (an animal) to death humanely) by veterinarians, late Monday night.

The cow belonged to B.K. Narasimhegowda, a farmer in H.D. Kote taluk. The cow was grazing near Chikkanahalli Forest Area when the incident took place. Narasimhegowda immediately informed People For Animals (PFA), who rushed to the spot in their ambulance and treated the cow and shifted the cow to the PFA Hospital in city for further treatment after informing the local authorities.

As the mouth of the cow was blown away, the animal was in a very bad shape and its chances of survival were very bleak. The condition of the cow was informed to Narasimhegowda and after taking his consent, the cow was put to sleep.
