Cow slaughter ban: Ramachandrapura Mutt receives 1 crore petitions, claims Seer

Mysuru: Ramachandrapura Mutt has received over 1 crore petitions from across the State seeking a ban on cow slaughter.

Addressing the ‘Samarpana’ programme organised by Bharatiya Go Parivar at Vivekananda Circle on Jan.3, Ramachandrapura Mutt Seer Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji said cow urine has medicinal properties that  can treat several heart ailments.

Strongly condemning cow slaughter, the Seer said cow slaughter is most inhuman act, as cow is considered as a sacred animal. Maintaining that over 50 seers belonging to different Mutts were ready to sign petitions in blood, he said his mission was to make the country free of cow slaughter.

Stating that the petitions received seeking cow slaughter ban will be sent to union and State Governments, he appealed the people to be prepared for launching a movement if Governments reject the petitions.

Noting that over 50,000 such petitions have been received in  Mysuru district alone, he called upon Go Parivar to continue receiving petitions and relentlessly fight till a complete ban on cow slaughter is enforced.

Melukote Ilai Alwar Swamiji said that the cow is like a mother to all of us and as such, everyone should support Raghaveshwara Swamiji’s endeavour to put an end to cow slaughter.

A pledge saving cows was taken at the programme. Earlier, the cow slaughter ban petitions titled ‘Abhayakshara’ were brought in a grand procession from Dr. K. Hedgewar Circle in Kuvempunagar to Vivekananda Circle.

Hosamutt Seer Chidananda Swamiji, Tripura Bhairavi Mutt Seer Krishna Mohananda Giri Swamiji, Neelakanta Mutt Seer Siddamalla Swamiji, Corporator M.V. Ramprasad, BJP leaders Mallappa Gowda, H.V. Rajiv, Naveen Kumar, Srivatsa, Phaneesh, M.K. Prem Kumar, Rakesh Bhat, Vikram Iyengar and others were present.
