Cowherd killed in bison attack at his farmland

Hanur: A 62-year-old cowherd, identified as Channabasavappa, was killed when a bison attacked him when he was grazing his cattle at his farmland in Shyagya village in Hanur taluk yesterday.

Channabasavappa’s farmland is located on the forest border. He as usual had taken his cattle for grazing on Sunday when a bison attacked him suddenly causing serious injuries on his thighs and stomach.

Meanwhile, neighbouring farmers, who saw Channabasavappa lying in a pool of blood, informed the staff of 108 Ambulance and emergency medical staff Murthy and driver Krishna, who arrived in an ambulance, provided first-aid and shifted Channabasavappa to Holy Cross Hospital at Kamagere, where Channabasavappa succumbed to injuries.

Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary officials and the Police  visited the spot.
