CPI urges for fulfilment of various demands

The members of Communist Party of India (CPI) staged a protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue at Gandhi Square here yesterday demanding both the State and Central Governments to fulfil various demands that included waiving off farm loans, release of crop insurance, water, fodder for animals, effective implementation of rural employment guarantee scheme, implementation of amended recommendations of Prof. S.G. Siddaramaiah Committee with respect to Sarojini Mahishi Report.

They also demanded the Governments to fill 35 percent vacancies in the Labour Department at the earliest and introduce Rs.18,000 minimum wage for workers in unorganised sectors as decided by the Government.

CPI State Secretary Raju, District Joint Secretary H.B. Ramakrishna, Secretary H.R. Sheshadri led the protest.
