Creative space design

From the ancient times, fundamentals of Vastu based on measurements, décor and comfort were adapted in putting together a place of worship, homes, and even temple courtyard to have a gathering of people.

Vastu, which could also be referred as the ‘Science of Sacred geometry’ evolved from the ancient book of knowledge known as the ‘Vedas.’ A branch of the ‘Veda’ pertains to structures called ‘Sthapatya Veda,’ the knowledge of structures.

The science deals with Energy, Matter, Time, Speed, Space and Spatial form.

A structure has Energy, it vibrates and pulsates, and it has the effect of Time, Space and Speed of the energy in and around the structure.

The Science of Vastu also encompasses the creative form of arts like poetry, music, dance, sculpture and architecture. Hence, adapting Vastu design in a structure is not just about measurements but visual aesthetics and creativity too. Vastu connects together all the creative forms of arts to the fundamentals of pulse or vibration which in turn activates primal light and sound energies. These energies have geometrical forms, numbers, wave lengths and rhythms.

Feng Shui, the oriental art and science of space alignment also takes into account the creative aspects of poetry, music, painting, rhythm and geometry when designing a vibrant structure, be it a home or work place. Based on influencing the flow of Chi or energy through your building and other aspects of your environment, Feng Shui principles align energy patterns with healing forces of nature. The result is a harmonious space that lays the foundation for emotional, spiritual, and physical health.

In the practice of Feng Shui, your first impressions as you enter a home, work place or even a room is very important. By crossing a threshold, you enter a new environment or another world. You experience particular qualities, moods, and presences, both visible and invisible, those conditions, motivate and influence our lives.

A dance space which has many different people in active involvement of art generates a lot of ‘Yang’ energy as they exude substantial physical energy. Such a place be it a Dance Studio or Amphitheatre requires the right environment to bring in the inspiring ‘Chi’ and energy which is a little more ‘Yin’ to calm and balance the energy of those who are inside.

To attract the best Vastu and Feng Shui energy to support creative activities, you could adapt some simple basic tips:

• Place in a metal urn filled with water some fresh flowers towards the North or East of your Studio.

• Have bright vibrant wall colours specific to the compass direction & orientation of building.

• Create a personal space for your creative pursuits and if you wish to spend time on meditation or have altar, use the NW corner of the room and try to face East or North while meditating or praying.

• Hang pictures and memories of successful projects which have won accolades.

• Energise your North sector with a display of dance photos, dance books, or anything that relates to your dancing career.

• Display the award or trophies you have won in the South corner of your Studio and house as well.

By adapting Vastu and Feng Shui, you will strengthen the flow of creative energy and create a space to support, as well as promote, your brilliant creativity and career.
