Bengaluru: The Karnataka Cabinet has approved the filing of a criminal case against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in connection with the June 4 stampede near M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The decision follows the findings of a report submitted by a commission headed by Justice Michael D. Cunha, which was constituted by the State Government to investigate the causes of the incident. The report held RCB, KSCA and event organisers, DNA Network, responsible for failing to implement precautionary measures and conducting the event without adequate planning. These lapses, it stated, directly led to the tragedy. The stampede claimed the lives of 11 sports fans and left                              over 50 others injured.
