Criminals throw chili powder to snatch

Mysuru: Despite City Police initiating several measures to prevent any untoward incident from taking place atop Chamundi Hill and also launching ‘Operation Chamundi’ following incidents of misconduct of young couples, chain-snatchings, assaults on devotees and tourists including foreign nationals in and around the Chamundi Hill, an incident of bike-borne miscreants snatching away a gold chain from a youth after throwing chili powder into his eyes has been reported near Nandi atop Chamundi Hill here yesterday afternoon.

The youth, who lost his gold chain to the miscreants, has been identified as 21-year-old Madan, a native of Chikkamagalur, who is pursuing his 1st year MSW course in Manasagangothri.

It is reported that Madan, who also market bags, had gone to the Hill on Saturday and was on his way back via Uttanahalli Road. When Madan reached Nandi to take the Uttanahalli Road, two bike-borne miscreants, who came from behind, threw chili powder into the eyes of Madan, snatched the gold chain weighing about 10 grams  and fled from the spot.

K.R. Police said that the miscreants are yet to be identified and have suspected the handiwork of habitual offenders.

K.R. Police, have registered a case in this regard.
