Forest Department places cage to trap the crocodiles

Palahalli: Following complaints from villagers that two crocodiles had devoured their goats in Virija Canal near Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary in Srirangapatna taluk, the Forest Department personnel have swung into action to trap the crocs.

Initially, the Forest staff had spread nets in the canal to catch the crocodiles but as the crocs had torn the nets and destroyed it, they have now placed a cage, expecting the crocs to walk into it and get themselves trapped.

The cage has been placed near the canal in the field and the Forest staff has placed chicken meat in the cage to lure the crocs inside it.
