CSI-Mysore observes World Women’s Heart Day

Mysuru: Cardiological Society of India (CSI), Mysuru Chapter, had organised a programme at MAA auditorium in J.K. Grounds premises recently to mark World Women’s Heart Day.

As part of this programme, a drawing and painting competition (Theme: Women & Heart) was conducted for students studying from 8th to 10th standard. A total of 50 children participated in the contest. Senior lady physicians Dr. Kamala Raman, Dr. Sheela Nayak, Dr. Geetha Avadhani and Dr. Latha Muttanna were honoured by CSI Mysuru Chapter for their services to society and women’s health.

There was a walk for healthy heart (Walkathon) from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple to J.K. Grounds in the evening with more than 500 people participating in it. Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti, Principal of Police Training School, Mysuru, inaugurated the event.

There was a public education programme followed by cultural programme on the same day at Platinum Jubilee Hall in J.K. Grounds. This was inaugurated by Dr. Pramoda Devi Wadiyar and Dr. Dharanidevi Malgatti.

The cultural programme comprised Dollu Kunita, Kamsale and meaningful drama that highlighted women health issues.

The programme ended with women from all age strata pledging with a candlelight vigil to work for women’s heart health.
