Cultural contests are a stepping stone for success

Mysore/Mysuru: Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hangal (KSGH) Music and Performing Arts University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nagesh V. Bettakote said that taking part in cultural activities and contests will help the students in personality development and success in life.

He was speaking after distributing prizes to the winners of ‘Kala Sharada-2023’ City-level Inter-Collegiate Cultural Contest at Sarada Vilas PU College Centenary Hall in Krishnamurthypuram here recently.

Pointing out that cultural contests are the stepping stone for success in a student’s life, Prof. Bettakote stressed on the need for the students to take part in cultural activities and contests.

Noting that participation is more important in cultural contests more than winning or losing, he said that participation will also help in building leadership qualities and enhance their self-confidence.

Students from 27 city colleges took part in the contests including Bharatanatyam Group Dance, Film Songs, Bhavageete, Janapadageete, classical Music etc.

Sadvidya Semi-Residential PU College in Vijayanagar Second Stage, which scored the highest points, won the Smt. Sharadamma Kala Sharada Rolling Shield.

Sarada Vilas PU College Principal C.K. Ashok Kumar presided. Sarada Vilas Educational Institutions Hon. Secretary N. Chandrashekar, Kala Sharada Convenor Rajendra Prasad Honnalagere, Vidushi Kavyashree R. Rao, faculty members H.R. Paramesh, A. Shilpa, Dr. Pooja, Dr. Lavanya, Vindya R. Prasad, Madhura, Manoj Kumar, Krishnamurthy and others were present.
