Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha has organised a variety of cultural extravaganza at its premises on JLB Road this month.
On Nov. 15 at 6.15 pm, a Dance Ballet ‘Karnataka Kaveri Bhavadhare’ will be presented by Dr. Nagalakshmi Nagarajan of Champaka Academy, sponsored by Madhuri Thathachari & Dr. R. Srinivasan in memory of their parents Rukmini Ammal & Ramaswamy Iyengar.
This dance-drama is based on ‘Kaveri Mahatmye’ by Poet Ranga and along with the great history of Kaveri, it highlights the ancient history of Karnataka.
Kavi Ranga lived during 1730 and his place was Hiriyur in Chitradurga. The Skanda Purana is the original source for this. Since Kaveri was born before Ganga, she is the elder sister of all rivers. Her birth, her life, her flow as a life-source, the holy places on the way, so on, thus she is one with the history of Karnataka and is the mother of Karunadu.
Concept and choreography is Dr. Nagalakshmi Nagarajan. Music composition is by Vidushi Chetna Chitradurga.
On Nov. 16 at 6 pm, Veteran artiste Vid. Bellary M. Raghavendra will present an exclusive Karnatak Classical Vocal by singing all the compositions of Vaggeyakaras of Karnataka concluding with ‘Kayo Sri Gauri.’
He will be accompanied on violin by Vid. Kritik Kaushik, mridanga by Vid. R. Adamya and Vid. Bhargava Halambi on kanjira.
This musical programme is sponsored by Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy in memory of his mother D. Ramabai.
On Nov. 21 at 6 pm, Gamaka, a unique art form of Karnataka, will be presented by Vidu. R. Tanusri (Vachana) and G.S. Manjunath (Vyakhyana) for Kumaravyasa Bharata’s Karna Bhedana.
