Cultural feast at Palace ends

Mysore/Mysuru: After eight-days of cultural feast, Dasara Cultural Programmes organised in the Mysore Palace premises from Sept. 22, came to an end last evening.

On the concluding day too, the music connoisseurs were entertained with a melange of programmes, from vocal to dance, light music to folk music, that marked the music ensemble for the year by Dasara Cultural Programmes Sub-Committee.

Renowned singers Indu Nagaraj and Lakshmi Nagaraj sister-duo belted out popular songs to the huge applause of the gathering. Making the audience know about their roots in the city, the duo rendered a song ‘Nimmurina Sahodariyaru Navibbaru…’, followed by a stream of devotional songs namely ‘Vathapi Ganapathim Baje…’, ‘Sri Chamundeshwari Amma…’ from Kannada film ‘Sri Krishnadevaraya’, ‘Brindavanadolu Haduanaare…’ from the film ‘Malathi Madhava’ etc.

The youths among the audience went gaga, following the rendition of ‘Pyarge Agbitaithe…’ a chart-buster song from the film ‘Govindaya Namaha’.

Dr. Mysore Gururaj and troupe presented folk songs, Stoka Krishnaswamy of ISKCON Mysuru presented ‘Harinama Sankeerthana’, Rekha Soudhi and troupe of Bidari Samskrutika Vedike (Bidar) presented devotional songs.

A dance drama by Dehali Karnataka Sangha kindled the spirit of Kannada, Ganasiri troupe spread a wave of music, followed by a jugalbandi of dance ballet, that proved a perfect adieu to Dasara Cultural Programmes at Palace premises.
