Cyber Police remove post, launch hunt to trace the culprits

Mysuru: Following complaints by eight students who are pursuing Science courses in Mysore University that their photographs including their profile and phone numbers have been uploaded in a ‘escort’ website and they have been receiving obscene calls and messages, the Cyber Police have removed the same from the website and have launched a hunt to trace the culprits.

It is reported that the students who began to receive obscene calls and messages on their mobile phones on Tuesday had brought the same to the notice of Varsity Registrar Prof. R. Rajanna, who directed them to lodge a Police complaint, which they did.

Sources said that the Cyber Police, who has taken up the investigation have lodged a hunt to find out who had uploaded the students’ profiles, mobile numbers and photographs to the website and added that once the IP address from where the photographs and the profiles were uploaded is found, an FIR would be filed in this regard.
