Dacoits loot gold, cash after tying up family members in Hunsur

Hunsur: A gang of five dacoits, who barged into a house after brandishing a pistol, have reportedly decamped with gold ornaments and cash from the house yesterday night after tying up the family members.

The dacoity took place at the house of Mumtaz Ahmed, near Mangala Bhoodi Mantap in the town.

Details: On Monday at about 8 pm, five unidentified persons, who came to the house of Mumtaz Ahmed asked for the doctor, who provides treatment for piles next to the house. When Ahmed’s wife Nasrunnisa told them that the doctor had left as it was night, the unidentified persons asked for her husband and when Nasrunnisa called her husband, one of the gang members brandished a pistol and all of them barged into the house.

They then tied up Ahmed, Nasrunnisa, children Ayesha Anjum and Gajalat Taranum. When Ahmed and his wife showed resistance, the gang members assaulted them with a knife causing injuries to them. After tying the hands and legs of the family members, the gang plastered their mouths and threatened of murdering them if they make noise. The gang then looted Rs. 6 lakh cash, about 500 grams of gold ornaments and fled from the house.

Passersby, who heard the family members shouting from inside the house, opened the door and admitted the injured to a hospital besides informing the Police.

Inspectors C.V. Ravi and Chikkaswamy, visited the spot. Dog Squad and Fingerprint experts were also summoned. Additional SP Shivakumar also visited the spot. 

A case has been registered at Hunsur Town Police Station.
