Dalai Lama to visit five monasteries in Bylakuppe

Mysuru: Tibetan Spiritual Leader and Nobel Laureate Dalai Lama will be visiting five monasteries in the Tibetan Settlements at Bylakuppe from Dec. 18 to Dec. 23.

He will arrive at Mysore Airport from Hubballi tomorrow and then drive to Bylakuppe where he will be accorded a traditional welcome in Sera Lachi Monastery. On Dec. 19, he will participate in the Ordination of 60 monks. Dalai Lama will drive to Sera Je Monastery on Dec. 20 and participate in preliminary Hayagriva Initiation and actual Hayagriva Initiation. He will visit the Sera Mey Monastery, the third one, on Dec.21, where the inauguration of Sera Mey courtyard will be held.

On Dec.22, Dalai Lama will give an audience for a group of nearly 200 Tibetan teachers who are attending a two-day workshop on secular ethics that Sherig Department is planning to introduce in Tibetan schools.

He will open renovated Golden Temple at Namdroling Monastery on Dec.22. He will leave Bylakuppe for Mysore Airport at 8 am on Dec.23 and fly to Bengaluru in a private aircraft. He will land in Bengaluru Airport at 10.30 am and then stay in Sheraton Windsor Hotel, according to Gelek Jugney and Lhakpa Tsering, Settlement Officers, Old and New Tibetan Settlements respectively.
