The Contour Road in Gokulam is in a pathetic state. It highlights how little we care about lives and public property.

Someone has cut the road — either authorised with permission, unauthorised without permission, or by civic agencies. After completing the work, someone used to place a few stones there.

Recently, potholes were filled on this road. The intelligent contractor, however, left this particular portion unfilled.

Since it has been many days after the work was completed, I cleared the stones a few times, foreseeing the risk, particularly for two-wheelers at night. But someone promptly kept placing the stones back (the person could have spent a few hundred rupees and filled the place with cement).

Over the last few days, it appears the same person has placed old manhole covers dangerously on this spot, putting the public at risk, merely to protect his UGD pipeline.

I hope the Mysore Traffic Police or the civic authorities fix this issue — and not by placing a barricade, for which we are sadly known.
