‘Dasa Vaibhava’ by Vid. Pavan Rangachar at BVB Mysuru

Mysuru: As part of its 141st Cultural Outreach Programme, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Mysuru Kendra, along with BVB Bengaluru and Infosys Foundation, Bengaluru, has organised ‘Dasa Vaibhava’ vocal concert by Vid. Pavan Rangachar at BVB auditorium in Vijayanagar 1st Stage, Mysuru, on Dec. 21 at 6 pm.

He will be accompanied by Vid. Ananthapadmanabha on violin, Vid. A. Radhesh on mridanga and Vid. Sharath Koushik on ghata.

Profile: Pavan Rangachar is an accomplished Karnatak vocalist with over two decades of performing experience. He is the disciple of Padma Bhushan Dr. T.V. Gopalakrishnan (TVG) and Padma Vibhushan Dr. Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer.

Under the tutelage of illustrious gurus, Pavan has imbibed the best of traditional and aesthetic values of Karnatak music.

Pavan performed his arangetram (premiere concert) in 1990 at Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai. Over the years, he has developed not only a vast repertoire of compositions but also a profound understanding of bhakti & bhaava in music.

As a youngster, Pavan was fortunate to be trained by the multi-faceted stalwart musician TVG who took special interest and coached him in the performing art and nuances of voice culture.

Recognising his profound interest and commitment, TVG further guided him to Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer for advanced learning under Prodigy Development Scholarship programme of Ford Foundation, USA. He was the last disciple of the Pitamaha and had the rare privilege of accompanying him on several concerts from 1995 to 2002.

Pavan is a finance professional and works for an MNC in Bengaluru. He is a Chartered Accountant and has earned an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad.
