Davanagere Sports Hostel team won the Men’s State-level Dasara CM Cup in Greco- Roman and Freestyle Dasara Wrestling Tournament, while the Womens’ team from Haliyal in Uttara Kannada district bagged the Overall Team Championship held at D. Devaraj Urs Multi-purpose Stadium adjacent to Dasara Exhibition Grounds here yesterday.
Wrestlers of the Davanagere men’s team won 6 gold, 6 silver and 8 bronze medals to bag the overall championship scoring 390 points. The Belagavi team came second winning 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals and scoring 90 points. The Davanagere team bagged the Overall Championship by making a clean sweep of the Freestyle contest.
In the Women’s section, the team from Haliyal, bagged the Overall Championship by winning 7 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals, scoring 245 points in total. The Belagavi women’s team came second by bagging 4 silver and 3 bronze medals and scoring 125 points.
Meanwhile, the wrestling contest for Dasara Kishore, Dasara Kesari, Dasara Kanteerava, Dasara Kishori and Mysuru divisional level ‘Mysuru Dasara Kumar’ titles will be held from today. The final bouts will take place tomorrow (Dec. 21).
For Dasara Kumar title, the league bouts have been completed and the finals will take place tomorrow.
