Dasara Flower Show prizes distributed

Mysuru:  The 12-day Flower Show organised by the Horticulture Department as part of Dasara festivities at Kuppanna Park (Nishad Bagh) on Mirza Road, Nazarbad, drew to a close yesterday, with thousands of tourists thronging the venue on the last day.

The 12-day attractive Flower Show attracted over 4.5 lakh footfalls, with the venue displaying colourful flora and fauna.

Prizes were distributed to winners of various contest organised as part of the show, during the valedictory function yesterday.

The Winners: Ornamental Gardens: BEML, J.K. Tyres in Hebbal Industrial Area and CISF, Infosys Ltd., were declared the Best in Industries category. A total of 36 industries took part in the contest.

Government Offices: Abdul Nazir Sab State Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj bagged the first prize, while the Mysore Palace Board and Power Grid Corporation of India, Yelwal, bagged special prizes.

Educational Institutions: JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Bannimantap, was declared the Best, while University of Mysore, Manasagangothri and All India institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Manasagangothri together bagged the first prize.

Individual Houses:  The home gardens of Dr. Hemamalini Lakshman of Siddarthanagar, Ali Wagh of Jayalakshmipuram, Prof. M. Rudraradhya, of Vijayanagar third stage and Prabha Subramanya of Vijayanagar first stage were declared the Best.

Apartments, Hotels and Hospitals: JSS Ayurveda College and Hospital at Lalithadripura and Silent Shores Hotel and Resorts at Hootagalli were jointly declared as the Best. Zuari Garden City at Hulikere on KRS Road bagged the first prize.

The winners of various other contest such as Pushpa Rangoli, painting, Indian flower decoration etc., too were distributed prizes on the occasion.

ZP President Nayeema Sultana, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner K.H. Jagadeesha, ZP CEO K. Jyothi, Joint Director of Horticulture H.M. Nagaraj, Deputy Director D. Manjunath, Corporator M. Satish, District Horticulture Society Vice-President Dr. D. Prabhamandal, Office-bearers H. Hanumaiah, M. Vijayakumari, Habiba Nishath and others  were present.
