Mysuru: This year, mouth-watering Bamboo Biryani will be served across three locations – Scouts and Guides Grounds, MUDA Grounds near Lalitha Mahal Helipad and near Sathagalli Bus Stand.
While the Food Mela at Scouts and Guides Grounds will be held from Sept. 21 to 28, the same in the other two venues will be held from Sept. 21-30. Addressing a meeting this morning with officials and members of tribal welfare organisations, Department of Food and Civil Supplies Senior Deputy Director and Food Mela Working President Dr. K. Rameshwarappa said that last year, organisers had received huge response for Food Mela as well as Bamboo Biryani. He added that in order to meet the demand, the Dasara Food Mela committee had decided to organise the mela at three venues.
This year, tribal communities including the Soligas, Siddis, Hakki Pikki, Koraga, Male Kudiya from Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu and Uttara Kannada districts will take part and each venue will have 8-10 counters selling authentic tribal food.
Like in previous years, Ragi Mudde, Sweet Potato, Bamboo Rice, Honey and Magaliberu Kashaya will be served.
The Scouts and Guides Grounds and the one at Sathagalli will have 100 stalls while the one near Lalitha Mahal will have 75 stalls.
The Food Mela Committee will also hold talks with organic farmers and associations involved in growing millets and others to set up special counters at the venues.
