Up at dawn: Hectic morning for counting officials, journos

Officials drawn from various Government Departments deputed to count votes for Nanjangud by-election had to start their day early and head towards the counting centre. Over 70 counting officials, who were to manage the 14 tables set up for counting, a host of officials who have been appointed by the Election Commission as Observers and Micro-Observers were asked to report at the counting centre (JSS First Grade College on the Deveerammanahalli Village Road) between 6 am and 7 am.

The team of officials were led by Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep, who is also the District Election Officer and Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner G. Jagadeesha, who is also the Nanjangud Constituency Returning Officer. Even they had to start their day and reach the counting centre early.

Some officials, who hailed from far-flung places, had to make arrangements for their stay in Mysuru and had to take special vehicles to reach Nanjangud early today.  Some even stayed at their relatives places in Nanjangud.

Along with the officials, a team of journalists too got ready at the crack of dawn to cover the counting process. A special vehicle had been arranged for them by the District Administration at 6 am to reach the counting centre.
