Day-long training in mushroom cultivation

Mysore/Mysuru: Extension Education Unit of Organic Farming Research Station at Naganahalli (OFRSN) and Organisation for the Development of People (ODP), Mysuru,  had jointly organised a day-long training programme in ‘Manufacturing of dairy products and Mushroom cultivation’ at Undanahalli village in Hunsur taluk recently.

Bhoosiri Raitha Utpanna Okkuta President Suresh, speaking after inaugurating the programme said that farmers must make use of modern technologies, information and facilities provided by the Government Agriculture Universities and Organic Farming Research Stations.

Food and Nutrition Assistant Professor Dr. Krishna Yadav, who too spoke, explained about the importance of mushroom cultivation and gave a demonstration of how to take up mushroom cultivation without using fertilisers and using low cost products.

OFRSN’s Dairy Farming Assistant Professor Dr. Nagamani in her address, explained about the selection of cattle in dairy farming, scientific management methods, health check-up etc.

“Using scientific methods,  one can increase the quality of milk. Processing and storing milk helps in maintaining the nutrition level present in the milk which could be later processed into various dairy products like paneer, butter, ghee etc.,” she said.

ODP Mysuru member Chitra, Extension Education Unit Assistant Dharanish and others were present.
