DC asks voters to cast votes voluntarily

Mysuru:  Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep has called upon the electorate to cast their votes voluntarily and freely.

He was speaking after inaugurating a District-level Contest organised under ‘Organised Education and Participation’ programme at Avila Convent in city recently. Observing that one gets voting right without any discrimination, he said that it was important that good leaders are elected as it is the elected people representatives who frame laws for us.

Pointing out that the State Assembly elections is likely to be held in April or May, he urged all the youths, who have completed 18 years of age, to register and cast their vote in the forthcoming polls.

Noting that one loses the right to question an elected representative, if he / she does not cast vote, the DC stressed on the importance of participating in elections.

Stating that special drive for voter registration will conclude on Jan.22, Randeep asked the newly-elected voters to ensure that their names are included in the voter list.

ZP CEO P. Shivashankar highlighted the importance of holding widespread campaign to ensure maximum polling.

Pointing out that youths constituted 35 percent of the electorate is the country, he regretted that a significant member of voters fail to cast their ballots in polls.

Observing that not casting votes will be an insult to the Constitution, Shivashankar explained the significance of polls in a democracy.

He further said that top three performers in every contest will become eligible to participate in the State-level contest.
