DC holds meeting to resolve K.R. Mill Colony land row

Mysuru: Following Chief Minister Siddharmaiah’s directions to find a solution to the K.R. Mill Colony land row, DC D. Randeep held a meeting with officials concerned at his office on Monday.

Speaking at the meeting, Randeep said that more than 300 families were living since decades in the land spread over 22.12 acres at Kesare belonging to K.R. Mill Colony. But handing over of Title Deeds has not happened all these years as it is a contentious issue, he said.

Pointing out that the previous owner of the land had availed loan from Indian Overseas Bank after mortgaging the said land, the DC said that the debt on loan along with accrued interest, had now reached Rs. 100 crore. But those living on this land belong to poor families and as such, the Government has directed the District Administration to discuss the pros and cons on ending the mortgage.

The DC further said that following Court order, the Government has asked the District Administration to submit a report after carrying out a survey of the said land and mentioning its price.

The DC expressed confidence that the row would be resolved as the Courts too have come to the rescue of the families living on this land. ADC T. Yogesh, Tahsildar Ramesh Babu, TP EO Shivananjaiah, K.R. Mill Colony Residents Association President Krishna, activists Srinivasamurthy, Raju and others were present.
