Mysuru: A progress meeting of Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP) was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office here on Friday.
Soon as the meeting began, several tribal leaders aired their grievances which included quantity cut in ration articles distributed to BPL and ‘Antyodaya’ card holders, encroachment of forest land, gomala issue, Title Deeds for cultivated land etc., among others.
DC D. Randeep, who presided over the meeting, instructed the officials to hold Adalats at the taluk level wherein tribal issues are amicably resolved.
The DC said that there were a number of complaints on the irregular attendance of teachers serving at Ashram schools. As such, CCTV cameras will be installed at Ashram schools to keep a check on the functioning of teachers, he said and added that measures will be taken to allow children to continue studies after fifth standard at Morarji Desai schools.
Referring to the health of tribals, the DC said that the tribals were educated on the importance of maintaining health and hygeneity.
Food and Civil Supplies Deputy Director K. Rameshwarappa, ITDP Officer Shivakumar, Hunsur Assistant Commissioner Soujanya and nearly 50 tribal community leaders attended the meeting.
