DC instructs officials to take measures to avert drinking water crisis during summer’

Mysore/Mysuru: With the summer season hardly a few days away, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G. Sankar directed the officials to take appropriate measures to ensure that there are no drinking water problems in the district during summer.

Presiding over a meeting of Taluk-level officials at his office here recently, Sankar asked the officials to identify trouble spots and take necessary measures for addressing drinking water issues in rural areas. 

Noting that the district received good rainfall in last season, he said that Groundwater levels have risen enormously in the district, thanks to bountiful rains. Pointing out that measures have to be taken for supplying water through borewells, wherever there is shortage of drinking water, the DC said that officials have the liberty to hire private borewells in villages prone to water crisis. 

Asking the officials to create awareness among villagers on preventing outbreak of vector-borne diseases, the DC directed the Health Department officials to set up a helpline for the benefit of villagers.

ADC B.R. Poornima, ZP CEO K. Jyothi, Asst. Commissioner Dr. Venkataraju, DDPI Panduranga, DHO Dr. Venkatesh and other officials were present.
