DC orders reinvestigation into woman’s death

Deceased Bhagya’s mother Sannamma.

Mysuru: Participating in the meeting on District Health Mission at DC’s office yesterday, parents of a pregnant Bhagya from Hullahalli Hadya in Nanjangud alleged that their daughter died due to the negligence of the doctor at Hura Primary Health Centre (PHC).

Bhagya’s mother Sannamma alleged that her pregnant daughter was admitted to Hura PHC on Aug. 17 where there were no doctors and instead a nurse performed delivery procedures.

The hospital did not have any basic facilities and this had led to Bhagya’s death, she alleged. Sannamma said that soon after the delivery, the nurse inserted glucose drips to Bhagya’s hands and asked her to be shifted to Nanjangud for advanced treatment.

Giving a patient ear to Sannamma, the DC questioned the nurse of Hura Hospital who fumbled for answers. Randeep ordered Nanjangud Taluk Health Officer Kalavathi to reinvestigate the case to find out the exact reason for Bhagya’s death.

District Health Officer Dr. B. Basavaraju, District Vector-Borne Disease Control Officer Dr. Chidambara and other health officers were present.
