DC warns against banners, flex during LS polls

Mysore/Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra has warned political parties of initiating action as per rules, if they  display banners and flexes in public places during the Lok Sabha elections to be held next year.

The DC was speaking after chairing a meeting with the representatives of different political parties and officials regarding the rate list of election expenses ahead of the Lok Sabha elections at his office, recently.

“Rate list of Lok Sabha election expenses have been given to the political parties. Any objections must be filed in a written form. Posters and stickers cannot pasted on walls during elections,” said Dr. Rajendra.

Stating that a special campaign is being done to include the names to voters list, the DC advised officials to create awareness among public in this regard. He also directed the officials to ensure that tribal communities like Jenu Kuruba, Kadu Kuruba, Betta Kuruba and others are not excluded from voters list as the district has a bigger number of tribal hamlets.

Directing the officials to visit all colleges in the district to enroll all those who have completed 18 years of age in the voters list, Dr. Rajendra asked Social Welfare Department Deputy Director to issue EPIC cards to all eligible transgenders and sex workers and seek the help of NGOs in this connection.
