DCF assures steps to constitute Tree Protection Committee

February 21, 2026

Mysore/Mysuru: A delegation of the Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) met Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF Territorial), Mysuru, K. Paramesh, urging the formation of a Tree Protection Committee to address growing concerns over environmental pollution, tree felling and the steady erosion of the city’s green cover.

Responding positively, he said a meeting would be convened shortly to initiate the process of constituting the Committee.

Mysuru, long regarded as a green and clean city known for its parks and lush surroundings, has in recent years witnessed rising pollution levels, increasing heat and dust and noticeable climatic changes.

During the meeting, the MGP delegation highlighted the need for immediate intervention. They pointed out that a comprehensive survey would help identify the number of trees lost in each ward and the project could yield several other long-term benefits.

Paramesh emphasised that once the Tree Protection Committee is constituted, no tree can be felled without its approval.

Assuring the delegation of action, he said he would seek necessary Government approval and convene a meeting to formally establish the committee, which would help curb ongoing environmental damage.

The delegation comprised Mysore Grahakara Parishat President Roy Joseph, Major General (Retd.) S.G. Vombatkere, Executive Committee Member Bhamy V. Shenoy and Convener D.V. Dayanand Sagar.
