De Paul College hosts two-day National Conference on Women-led Development

Mysore/Mysuru: De Paul College, Mysuru, in association with the Centre for Women Studies and Research, hosted a National Conference on “Women-led Development: Pathways to Inclusive, Sustainable & Equitable Growth” on Mar. 14 and 15.

Srirangapatna MLA Ramesh Babu Bandisiddegowda was the chief guest at the inaugural session. Prof. K. Shivachithappa, Vice-Chancellor of Mandya University, was the Conference President. Dr. K.G. Licy, Vice-Principal of De Paul College and Director of the Centre for Women Studies & Research, Mandya University, served as the Conference Convener.

In his address, MLA Ramesh Babu Bandisiddegowda emphasised the critical role of education, entrepreneurship and leadership opportunities in empowering women and ensuring equitable societal progress.

Prof. Shivachithappa highlighted the transformative impact of women in nation-building and encouraged academic research that promotes gender equality and sustainable development.

Dr. Niharikha Nigam, former Head, Skill Council for Persons with Disabilities under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, in her keynote address, underscored the importance of inclusive policies, capacity-building initiatives and leadership platforms for women to drive socio-economic growth.

The conference brought together over 250 participants, including academicians, researchers, policymakers and students from across the country, providing a platform to explore the pivotal role of women in shaping inclusive and sustainable development.

Over 130 research papers were presented, reflecting innovative ideas and solutions.

A major highlight of the meet was the recognition of 25 exemplary Women Changemakers from across India, representing diverse fields including education, economics, sports, law, civil services, military services, social activism and advocacy. These women leaders, hailing from different States, were celebrated for their outstanding contributions toward societal transformation and empowerment.

Through its series of conferences, workshops and award recognitions, De Paul College continues to champion women-led initiatives and promote research, innovation and leadership development for a more inclusive and equitable society.

Rev. Dr. Baiju Antony CM, Principal of De Paul College, welcomed. Dr. Venkataramana, Registrar (Evaluation), Mandya University and Dr. Shijo Antony CM, Vice-Principal of De Paul College, were present.
