Mandya University VC calls it a milestone in Higher Education
Mysore/Mysuru: Prof. K. Shivachithappa, Vice-Chancellor, Mandya University, inaugurated the ‘De Paul Research Centre’ at the Board Room of De Paul College, Mysuru, recently marking a major step towards strengthening research culture and academic advancement on campus.
Rev. Dr. Baiju Antony CM, Principal of De Paul College, welcomed. Dr. K.G. Licy, Vice-Principal – Academics, co-ordinated the ceremony.
In his inaugural address, the VC highlighted the increasing significance of research in higher education. He commended De Paul College for establishing a dedicated centre to promote rigorous scholarship, advanced study and innovation among faculty and scholars.
Prof. Lancy D’Souza, Head, Department of Psychology, Maharaja’s College, Mysuru, delivered the keynote address. He spoke on the importance of research methodology and systematic inquiry in academic excellence.
During the felicitation, Prof. Nagaraju, Syndicate Member, Mandya University, appreciated the serene and learner-friendly campus of De Paul College.
He lauded the management’s commitment to creating a vibrant academic environment and expressed confidence that the Research Centre would emerge as a hub for meaningful research output.
Several dignitaries, including Rev. Fr. Sunny Kurian, Vice-President, Vincentian Society – Southern Province, Rev. Dr. Shijo Antony CM, Vice-Principal and P.J. Joshy, IQAC Coordinator, were present on the occasion. Research guides associated with the Centre and 42 research scholars were also present.
Dr. H.B. Rajith Kumar, Research Director, proposed the vote of thanks.
Following the inaugural function, the first Ph.D coursework class on Research Methodology was conducted by Prof. Lancy D’Souza, marking the official commencement of academic activities under the newly established Research Centre.
The new Research Centre aims to promote quality research, provide structured guidance to scholars and strengthen the institution’s contribution to higher education and knowledge creation.
