Debate workshop for High School girl students

Mysore/Mysuru: Vivekananda Institute of Indian Studies (VIIS), a unit of Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM), is hosting a debate workshop for 8th, 9th and 10th standard girl students from June 12 to 16 in collaboration with ILR School Cornell University, USA, at the Institute in Mysuru.

VIIS offers various customised courses to Universities across the globe and has experience working with over 22 International Universities in US and Canada.

VIIS also facilitates placement of students for internship and volunteering in SVYM and other organisations in Mysuru. More information about the Institute can be had at www.viis.in

The Speech and Debate programme at Cornell University is a co-curricular programme boasting world class faculty and staff with combined teaching and coaching experience of 60-plus years. VIIS is partnering with Cornell University since 12 years for a Global Service Learning programme and internships.

Designed with a blended learning model, students are divided into groups led by the Debate coach. The coach will teach all aspects of debate — from argument building to refutation strategy — in these small groups giving each student plenty of time to learn, practice and apply these skills each day of the camp.

Amalia Schneider is Leader on the Spanish Language debate team at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York.

Four of the girls participating in the workshop will receive scholarship to participate in the international summer debate camp at Cornell University.
