Mysuru: City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar has issued a notification according to Rule 2(C) of The Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 declaring the radius of 100 metres around Mysuru Zoo, Karanji Lake Nature Park, Kukkarahalli Lake premises, Lingambudhi Lake premises, public parks, hospitals and nursing homes, educational institutions, Law Court premises and religious places as ‘Silent Zones.’ The bursting of crackers is banned here from Oct. 30 till 12 midnight on Nov. 2.

Ban on child labour in cracker stalls

The Mysuru Division Assistant Labour Commissioner, in a press release has stated that there is a ban on employing children below 18 years of age in stalls selling firecrackers and also in crackers manufacturing units as they come under dangerous jobs.

If any children (below 18 years) are found working in cracker stalls, legan action will be initiated against the firecracker stall owners under Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act.
