Deer poaching: One arrested, hunt on to nab 15 others

Mysore/Mysuru: Forest Department staff, who raided a spot where a few persons had killed a deer and were sharing the meat, have arrested one person and are on a look out for 15 others who had fled from the spot. The incident took place at Nadadi Beat limits of Moleyur Range in Hediyala Sub-Division of Bandipur Tiger Reserve.

The Forest staff have seized about 7 kg raw deer meat, one plastic bin and other items including about 500 grams cooked deer meat at the spot.

The arrested person is 42-year-old Shekar, a resident of Kebbepura ‘A’ Tribal Hamlet in Kandalike hobli of Saragur taluk. The Forest staff are on a look out for 35-year-old Masthi, 40-year-old Kariya, 60-year-old Mandanna, 25-year-old Kulla, 35-year-old Shekar, 45-year-old Kulla, 38-year-old Kariyappa, 31-year-old Kariyappa, 27-year-old Dasa, 35-year-old Biliya, 38-year-old Ganesh, 52-year-old Raju, 40-year-old B. Raju, 25-year-old Basappa and 28-year-old Kariya, all residents of Kebbepura ‘A’ Tribal Hamlet, who managed to escape during the raid. Shekar was produced before a Court, which remanded him judicial custody.
