Defunct traffic signal lights repair works begin in Mysuru

Mysuru: The repair works of defunct traffic signal lights in city have begun.

ACP (Traffic) G.N. Mohan, who has implemented public address system at major traffic junctions to warn motorists for violation of traffic rules, is supervising the repair works.

Repair works have been undertaken at V.V. Puram Traffic Police limits since four days and from today, signal lights in K.R. Traffic Police limits will be repaired by technicians who have been given the annual maintenance contract.

Out of 52 traffic signal lights in city, many have become defunct resulting in difficulty for the Traffic Police to regulate vehicular traffic especially during rush hours.

ACP Mohan said that following the construction of the fly-over at Hinkal, the traffic signal light which was installed at the Ring Road junction would be shifted to the Ring Road junction near Bharath Cancer Hospital in Hebbal.

He opined that as Infosys is nearby, a lot of traffic is witnessed on the road and installing the traffic signal light there would prevent accidents from taking place.
