Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation Permanent Pourakarmikas and Contract Pourakarmikas Mahasangha, has urged the State Government to consider the demand for direct recruitment of remaining 24,000 pourakarmikas in the State, along with Underground Drainage (UGD) workers, in the forthcoming budget session, starting from Mar. 3.
President of the Mahasangha N. Mara told media persons at Patrakarthara Bhavana here yesterday, it is regrettable that, the Government is failing to keep its promise, despite making repeated assurances. The benefits of Arogya Sanjeevini should be extended to PKs too on the lines of Government employees. In MCC, 68 PKs who got job through direct recruitment have died on duty. The dependents of the deceased PKs should be provided job on humanitarian grounds.
As many as 231 UGD Assistants of MCC have been serving since 25 years, who too should be recruited through direct recruitment process So also, the drivers of auto tippers and tipper lorries deployed for collecting garbage from door-to-door.
