Mysore/Mysuru: KPCC Spokesperson M. Lakshmana has demanded immediate inclusion of SC and ST reservation hike announced by the State Government in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution.
Addressing a press meet at Congress Bhavan here on Monday, Lakshmana wanted the Government to declare when the reservation hike will be included in the Ninth Schedule.
Maintaining that the Government announced reservation hike only because Sri Valmiki Prasannanandapuri Swamiji launched a prolonged agitation, he urged the Government to immediately convene an Emergency Legislature Session for passing an ordinance in this regard.
Terming the reservation hike as a political gimmick when the Assembly elections are just a few months away, Lakshmana alleged that measures have not been taken to fill up 2.15 lakh posts in State Government and 32 lakh jobs in the Union Government which have remained vacant for long.
He asserted that the Government was fooling people in the name of reservation hike. Privatisation of public sector enterprises will in no way help in implementation of reservation, he said and asked the Government to announce reservation in private sector if indeed it had any real concern for SC and ST communities.
City Congress President R. Murthy, leaders B.M. Ramu and Eshwar Chakkadi were present.
