Demand for inner reservation in Mysore Varsity Fellowship

Mysuru: City’s senior advocate S. Arunkumar has urged the University of Mysore (UoM) to implement inner reservation quota while granting Ph.D Fellowship to research students.

Speaking to Star of Mysore after holding a discussion and presenting a memorandum to UoM Vice-Chancellor Prof. N.K. Loknath at Crawford Hall here recently, Arunkumar said that the UoM has been appealed to grant Fellowship based on inner reservation quota.

Stating that the UoM should strictly follow inner reservation quota announced by the State Government in awarding Fellowship, he warned that the Madiga community (SC left hand) will lay siege to UoM if it goes against the law on inner reservation.

Asserting that the Madiga community was demanding justice, Arunkumar said that the VC has assured that the UoM will follow the model to be adopted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), which is  expected to issue guidelines on inner reservation matrix by July 10.  Prof. Loknath said Arunkumar in his memorandum has  sought justice to research students who have been on an indefinite stir for over a fortnight seeking Fellowship.

He said the memorandum has also demanded  resolution of all issues and confusions regarding inner reservation quota once and for all.
