Demanding Forest Conservation, Vedike takes out padayatra to Chamundi Hill

Mysuru: Demanding conservation of Forests, activists of Kasturi Karnataka Janapara Vedike took out a padayatra (foot march) to Chamundi Hill on Thursday.

The padayatra, which began from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at the Palace North Gate, passed through Hardinge Circle, Lalitha Mahal Road and Tavarekatte to reach Chamundeshwari Temple atop the Hill.

Maintaining that forests are being destroyed and trees felled in the name of development, the activists said rampant deforestation had led to climate change, resulting in drought and other natural calamities.

They urged the Government to conserve forests, save water bodies and to stop destruction of forests.

Vedike office-bearers Ramesh Gowda, Dinesh, Ranjit Gowda, Srinivas, Harish, Mangalamma and others took part in the march.
