Mysuru: A demonstration on stage lighting was organised at the University College of Fine Arts auditorium in the city on Monday. Internationally renowned violin exponent Dr. Mysore Manjunath inaugurated the programme by pressing the button of a light.
In his address, Dr. Mysore Manjunath said, light that drives away darkness, lights up all those which comes in the way of its rays. The influence of light on our mind is also vast. The arrangement of lights, irrespective of art forms, plays a key role, as it amplifies the effect of scenes and the surrounding environment. Similar is the impact of lights in music concerts to depict the feelings and mood of the musician.
Light designer Mahesh Kallaththi, with the help of slides on the lighting devices in use from the past to the present, explained to the students. With a hands on demonstration on the lighting effects in the theatre halls, he introduced to the students, the nuances of indoor lighting.
Earlier in his address, theatre expert Arsikere Yogananda said, such demonstrations help the students directly learn about the topic, that sets the tone for organising several such initiatives on varied topics.
Presiding over the programme, Principal of University Fine Arts College, Prof. Anita Vimla Braggs wished that the students sharpen their skills in lighting and fill the space created in the field of theatre.
Theatre teacher Megha Sameera welcomed the gathering and compered the programme.
Faculty of University College of Fine Arts Subbalakshmi, Geetha, Surya Prabha and Nataraj, artistes Srikanth and Manjunath and about 80 students were present.
