Nanjangud: Two persons from Nanjangud taluk, who had developed dengue and brain fever, have been admitted to NIMHANS in Bengaluru.
Those admitted are 19-year-old Shilpa of Hadya village and 23-year-old Andani of Sinduvalli in the taluk. The condition of both are critical, according to the doctors.
Shilpa and Andani, who had developed fever, was brought to Gowri Hospital on MJS Road in Nanjangud for treatment on Monday. Dr. Rajashekar Swamy, who conducted blood tests of both, found the results positive for dengue and brain fever and immediately informed K.R. Hospital and Apollo Hospital in Mysuru over phone.
But he was told to send the patients to NIMHANS in Bengaluru as the disease would spread from one person to another following which they were rushed to Bengaluru and admitted to NIMHANS. Though both of them are being treated, their condition is said to be critical, according to the doctors.
Meanwhile, the residents of both the villages have urged the Health Department and the Taluk Administration to take preventive measures to check the spread of diseases.
The Health Department authorities have requested the public to co-operate by keeping their surroundings clean besides creating awareness on how to control the spread of the diseases, which is caused by mosquitoes.
