Mysore/Mysuru: Dental Innovation Hackathon was organised by the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) of JSS Dental College and Hospital, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, in association with Sparkle Cine Foundation recently.
The aim of the programme was to explore the problem statements related to dentistry and find innovative solutions for the same. It provided a platform for dental professionals to bridge the gap between the different disciplines and come out with ideas, prototypes, and innovations that are easier, less painful, and more reliable for dental patients.
On the occasion, Dr. Madhur Gupta, Technical Officer, WHO Country Office – India, visited the Hackathon. She appreciated the efforts taken by the institution to promote the translational activity of academics and research and emphasised the need of more such programmes to increase industry-academia collaborations.
The programme witnessed various innovations like herbal mouthwashes, unique sterilisation devices for use in remote areas utilising renewable energy and advanced technologies for therapeutic care.
Dr. Sudheendra Bhat, Controller of Examinations, JSS AHER, presided. The event was judged by Dr. M.S. Maheshan, Associate Professor, Department of Information Science & Engineering and Assistant Registrar (Administration) at JSS Science and Technology University, Mysuru; Girish Bhushan, Founder of Vruksh Medical Devices and Dr. S. Prashanth, Deputy Dean, (Academics), JSS AHER.
Dr. M.R. Dhakshaini, Principal, JSS Dental College and Hospital and Deputy Dean (Authorities), JSS AHER and Dr. B.R. Chandrashekar, Vice-Principal, JSS Dental College & Hospital and IIC, President, were present.
Dr. Seema Deshmukh and Dr. S. Suma, Associate Professor, JSS Dental College & Hospital and Student Members S.R. Neha and P. Raghu Pavan coordinated the programme that concluded with distribution of certificates of appreciation to the winners and participants.
