Development of Satellite Townships: “MUDA’s joint plan with private players helpful”

MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev speaking at an interaction programme organised by NAREDCO, Mysuru, at Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club at the foot of Chamundi Hill in city recently.

Mysore/Mysuru: Stating that private players and all other stakeholders are helpful in the development of Satellite Townships, Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Chairman H.V. Rajeev said MUDA’s joint plan is key for providing shelter to all the shelterless.

He was speaking at an interaction programme on ‘Joint Land Development Plan’ organised by National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO), Mysuru, at Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club at the foot of Chamundi Hill here recently.

Stating that he has visited about 30 places across the city where there are lands belonging to MUDA, Rajeev said that he discovered that lands ranging from 30,000 sq. ft. to 1.5 lakh sq. ft. were vacant at some places. It is proposed to construct multi-floor apartments in such vacant spaces, he said. Continuing, he said that there are plans to construct more than 6,000 houses with two slab rates — Rs. 12 to Rs. 15 lakh and Rs. 20 to Rs. 25 lakh.

Highlighting that MUDA is focussing on building houses for the middle class at affordable rates, Rajeev said that there are 80,000 applications seeking sites, pending before MUDA as of now.

Pointing out that some of the applicants are found to have purchased sites or houses elsewhere, he said that MUDA has planned to link Aadhaar and PAN card to the applications in order to avoid duplication of allotment.

The names of such applicants, who are found to have purchased sites or houses, will be dropped from the list and the rest will be provided sites based on seniority, he asserted.

An interaction on the pros and cons of forming layouts on a 50:50 basis after acquiring land from farmers was held, during which senior advocate Dheerendra Kumar Mehta said that it is a challenge to develop layouts based on 50:50 partnership with land owners. He opined that forming layout after purchasing land and paying compensation in full to farmers is a better option than 50:50 sharing.

Businessman Manoj Lodha, NAREDCO Mysuru office-bearers N. Divyesh, Adisheshan  Gowda, M.L. Nagesh, S. Phaniraj and others were present.
