Devotees forced to pay more at Nanjangud temple footwear stand

Mysore/Mysuru: Thousands of devotees visit the famed Srikanteshwara Temple at Nanjangud in the district, which is popularly known as Dakshina Kashi. But these devotees are forced to pay more for their footwear at the temple’s shoe stand, in the absence of any notice board regarding footwear fee. As a convenience for thousands of devotees visiting Srikanteshwara  temple everyday, the temple authorities have set up a footwear stand close to the temple and near the Dasoha Bhavan.

The temple authority has tendered the operation of these footwear stands, by fixing a fee.

But some devotees have complained that the footwear stand guards have been demanding exorbitant  fee from them.

Accusing the footwear guards of charging more than Rs.5 per pair which is nothing but fleecing, they alleged that there is no notice board put up at the stand regarding fee. As such, they are forced to shell out whatever they are asked for, the devotees alleged.

Pointing out that a board that mentioned Rs.2 as fee has now been removed, they have urged the authorities to put an end to this fleecing by erecting a fee board at the footwear stand.
