Devotees robbed atop Chamundi Hill: Four of a family including three women arrested

Mysuru: Four members of a family including three women have been arrested by K.R. Police for stealing gold chains of devotees atop Chamundi Hill. The arrested persons have been identified as Nagesh Bhajantri, Eshwari Bhajantri, Sathyamma Bhajantri and Sheela Bhajantri of Savadathi in Dharwad. The Police have recovered a gold chain worth about Rs. 40,000, one mobile phone and one camera from them.

The accused on Sept. 30 had lifted a gold chain of one Arpita Pal from West Bengal, who had come to the Hill Temple, following which Arpita had lodged a complaint with K.R. Police.

The Police, who took up the investigation, examined the CCTV footages of cameras installed in the Temple and based on the clues the Cops arrested  the accused.

During interrogation, the Cops came to know that the accused had lifted a gold chain weighing about 11.5 grams of one Rukmini atop the hill in 2012.

The accused were produced before the Magistrate, who remanded them to Judicial custody.
