DFRL imparts training in tomato processing for farmers

Gundlupe:  Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL), Mysuru, had conducted a one-day Tomato Processing training camp for rural farmers, during the Annual General Body Meeting of Gundlupet Farmer Producer Company (FPC) Ltd., in collaboration with local Horticulture and Agriculture Department at Gundlupet, recently.

Processing of tomato products such as tomato sauce and tomato chutney was demonstrated to the group of FPC farmers at the site. The DFRL also exhibited the processed food samples based on horticulture produce.

Senior Scientists of Fruits and Vegetables Technology Department of DFRL Prakash Patki, Scientist “G” and his technical team comprising Dr. Om Prakash Chauhan, Dr. Rudra Gowda, C. Nanjappa, Roopa, Tanveer Ahamed and other supporting staff conducted the training camp.

Organiser Madhu, Executive Director and Board of Director of FPC, was present.

Shivaprasad, Deputy Director, Shivalingappa, Assistant-Director of Horticulture Department and Dr. Mohan Kumar, Scientist from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Haradanahally, Chamarajanagar, were also present.

About 300 progressive farmers participated and gained knowledge on tomato processing technologies from DFRL team.
