‘Dharege Doddavaru’: Night-long folk music at Kalamandira tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: The Department of Kannada and Culture in association with Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran Limited, Mysuru, has organised a night-long folk music rendition programme on Manteswamy and Male Mahadeshwara, popularly known as ‘Dharege Doddavaru’ among locals, from 6 pm tomorrow (Feb. 28) to 6 am (Feb. 29) at Kalamandira premises in city.

A procession of folk troupes carrying Kandaya will be taken out from Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple at Palace North Gate tomorrow at 4 pm. 

At Kalamandira: The programme will begin with offering of dhoopa at 6 pm followed by rendition of ‘Dharege Doddavara saalu’ about Male Mahadeshwara by Mysuru Gururaj and team at 7 pm; life of Male Mahadeshwara by Malavalli Mahadevaswamy and team at 8 pm; Gaarudigara saalu about Manteswamy, Rachappaji and Doddamma Taayi by Dodda Gavibasappa and team at 9 pm; Sutturu Mathada saalu by Kailasa Murthy at 10 pm; Bettada Sharana Channappaji and Adi Honna Nayakana Halli Maadammana saalu by Kolatturu Nagesh at 11 pm; Shravana Samhaara saalu by Nanjangud Maadashetty at 12 am; Matti Taleshwara and Malavalli Maaratti saalu by Poorigali Mahadeva at 1 am; Shankammana saalu by Chinnamadu of H.D. Kote at 2 am; Madivala Machayyana saalu by Nagendra Malavalli at 3 am; Kempachari and Siddappaji saalu by K.K. Pura Kumara at 4 am; concluding songs about Manteswamy by Mysuru Gururaj at 5 am and about Mahadeshwara by Malavalli Mahadevaswamy at 5.30 am.
