Dirty spot in clean city

Sir,

This photo was taken next to a Mosque on Akbar Road Cross, Lashkar Mohalla. The stench emanating from this place is such that it is impossible to pray with concentration and peace.

During mango season, all rotten mangoes are dumped here by shop-keepers. And when it rains, imagine the slush and stink. Stray cattle and dogs are having a whale of a time here. Pity the residents ‘living’ in and around this spot.

I have met the Mysuru City Corporation officials of the concerned Zone several times to find a permanent solution, but to no avail. Careless residents and shop-keepers of the area who have no sense of hygiene are also to be blamed for this pathetic state of affairs.

It is the civic body’s duty to keep the streets clean and to see that the citizens’ health is not put to danger. When you pass by such areas, one wonders how Mysuru is one of the cleanest cities in India!

A good solution to control the rot here is to fence this area with brick walls and also trace  the owner of this vacant site to do that. There are several such dirty spots in Mysuru. For decades they have continued to exist and there is no serious effort to find lasting solutions. Hope the new MCC Commissioner will take action as soon as possible.
