District Administration collects necessary items for rescue operation

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru District Administration has come forward to help neighbouring State Kerala, where a series of landslides killed hundreds of people and rendered many homeless at Wayanad.

Following instruction from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to render help in Wayanad, the Mysuru District Administration with help from donors is ready to provide help. On instruction from Deputy Commissioner and following an order from Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner, a Disaster Management Room (DMR) has been established at the MCC main office and necessary items, equipment is being collected from donors.

MCC Zone-3 Commissioner T.S. Sathyamurthy (Mob: 97313-98207) and Revenue Officer M. Basavanna (Mob: 90083-80777) have been deployed as Nodal Officers of the DMR.

Nodal Officer Sathyamurthy said that no instructions have been given to collect food items and those willing to donate can provide steel cutters, gas cutters, stretchers, beds, industrial lights, torches, raincoats, sweaters, jerkins, bed sheets and other such items to the DMR, which will be sent to Wayanad.

The MCC Zone-3 officials and staff have collected four steel cutters worth Rs. 40,000 and Zone-2 officials and staff have collected 1,100 hand gloves and 1,050 masks which have been handed over to the DMR.

The Joint Director of the Department of Commerce and Industries has sent 2,040 napkins, 504 hand sanitisers, 1,000 masks, 288 gumboots and 1,008 hand gloves.

 Amigo Hyper Market at Dattagalli has given two gas cutters and Narasimhegowda, a businessman from Ramakrishnanagar has provided one steel cutting machine.
